Gingerbread Cookies without Molasses

Ingredients
  • ½ cup (1 stick) salted butter
  • 1¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ Tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • ⅛ teaspoon clove (optional*)
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 F. degrees.
  2. Using an electric mixer mix butter and sugar together. Add egg and vanilla and mix in.
  3. Add flour, ginger, cinnamon and (clove).
  4. Roll dough out on a lightly floured surface or between 2 pieces of waxed paper to ¼" thick.
  5. Cut into gingerbread shapes using cookie cutters.
  6. Transfer to baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 9-10 minutes or until desired. Less time will equal a softer cookie, more time will give you a crisp cookie.
  8. Let cool completely. Decorate as desired.
