My daughter is obsessed with cinnamon rolls and cinnamon bread, so I made this for her. Making bread with a bread machine is so easy. Trust me, I would never make any bread at all if I didn’t have one!
Here is a tip that my brother in law taught me (he is a professional chef/baker) if you don’t want your bread to separate where the swirl part is then use powdered sugar instead of granulated sugar for the filling, like we are doing here. If you try this in another recipe, double the powdered sugar in place of the granulated sugar.
Roll the dough out so it’s about 1 1/2 x 2 feet:
Cut the long roll in half:
Cut each half down the middle, pinch the end and twist it, then put it in the pan:
Your icing should be pretty watery when you pour it over the top.
- 1 cup warm milk
- ¼ cup warm water
- 2 eggs
- ¼ cup soft butter
- 5 cups flour
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2¼ teaspoons quick rise yeast
- filling:
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- icing:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 3 tablespoons milk
- Heat water and milk together in microwave for 1 min.
- Add warm water, milk, eggs, butter, flour, sugar, salt, and yeast (in that order) into bread machine and set in for dough cycle. Grease 2 bread pans
- When it's done, roll dough out on floured surface. Get it about 1½ x 2 feet then brush with butter, sprinkle powdered sugar and cinnamon and roll it up tight.
- cut in half so you have to rolls (see pic), then slice down the middle of those (see pic) then twist the 2 halves and place in greased pan and repeat for the other one.
- Let rise for 45-60 mins.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and bake for 30--35 mins.
- Mix powdered sugar and water and pour over the top of warm bread.
Wow! What an indulging CINNAMON TWIST BREAD you have here. Loved it! That makes two of us—my 2.5 year old daughter is also CRAZY about cinnamon rolls. :-)
Would love to see you on my space sometime! :)
Thanks Anu!
I made this wonderful cinnamon twist bread & we loved it. I did add pecans & raisins, which made it a little trickier to twist but it was worth it. Very yummy. I’ll be making it again.
Thanks Pat, I’m so glad you loved it! My husband loves raisins, I will have to give that a try!
This looks so beautiful! I tried it in my standard bread maker, And learn this recipe is for a larger machine. 5 cups of flour is not doable and a standard one to 1 1/2 pound bread maker. Working on it in a mixing bowl instead still hope it turns out as beautiful as the recipe.
I hope your bread turns out. Sorry to hear it didn’t fit in your machine. The standard machine is usually 2 lbs. I guess a 1.5 lb machine is for one loaf of bread making? I’ve used Oster, Hamilton Beach, and a Sunbeam to make bread and they are all 2 lb machines. To make it in a small machine you could cut the recipe in half and make one loaf.
