Thin Chewy Frosted Sugar Cookies
Sometimes I just crave a big chewy sugar cookies smothered with vanilla frosting & sprinkles. You know the ones I’m talking about…they are thin, chewy & oh so good!
In case you haven’t noticed yet, I have a thing for sugar cookies. They are one of my weaknesses. I can’t stop with just one. I love all kinds of sugar cookies. I’m always looking for another amazing sugar cookie recipe to put in my recipe box. I have already posted quiet a few of my tried & true favorites. They are are all very different & unique from one another but I love them all! I have shared my Amish Sugar Cookies, The Best Soft & Chewy Sugar Cookies, Old Fashioned Soft Sugar Cookies, Frosted Shortbread Cookies, etc.
To get them nice & thin you use the bottom of a drinking glass dipped in sugar & flatten them down. You don’t have to flatten them down too much because they will flatten out more while they are baking in the oven.
I have a picky sugar cookie eater in the family…they are really hard to please. They don’t like cookies that are crispy or have any hard edges. With this recipe you don’t have to worry about crispness. They are soft & chewy through & through.
- -Cookie Dough-
- 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1½ cups sugar
- 2 ounces cream cheese, cut into pieces
- 6 Tablespoons salted butter, melted
- ⅓ cup vegetable oil
- 1 egg
- 1 Tablespoon milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- -Frosting-
- 2½ cups powdered sugar
- 5 Tablespoons melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 Tablespoons milk
- -sprinkles for decorating (optional)
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line cookie sheets with baking mat or parchment paper.
- Whisk flour, baking soda, & baking powdered together, set aside.
- Using a large mixing bowl add sugar, cream cheese & warm melted butter & whisk together. Whisk in oil. Add egg, milk, & vanilla. Whisk until smooth. Add flour mixture & mix with a spoon or rubber spatula until soft dough forms.
- Take a large scoop of dough (about 2 Tablespoons worth) & roll into a ball. Place on prepared cookie sheets. Use the bottom of a drinking glass dipped in sugar to flatten dough balls slightly.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 11-13 minutes or until edges are just starting to brown.
- To make the frosting combine all 4 ingredients in a mixing bowl & use an electric mixer to mix ingredients until smooth. Once the cookies have cooled spread frosting over tops of cookies.
