Serves: 18-20
  • 2 teaspoons (1 packet) dry active yeast
  • ¼ cup warm water
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened (I used salted)
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 4-4½ cups all purpose flour
  1. Add yeast to bowl. Add in warm water. Heat milk in microwave for about 30 seconds to warm it up, add to yeast.
  2. Add softened butter (you can warm it in the microwave for a few sec. if its cold).
  3. Add remaining ingredients: sugar, salt, egg, & start with 1 cup of flour. Stir ingredients together. Add in remaining cups of flour one at a time, kneading dough until dough forms a soft ball that is no longer sticky. (I'd start with 4 cups of flour & add up to ½ cup more if the doughs too sticky)
  4. Place in a greased a bowl and let rise until doubled in size. About 45 minutes to an hour.
  5. Punch dough down. Turn onto a floured surface. Divide in half and then roll into a “log”. Cut into portions for shaping. (I divided into 18 rolls)
  6. Shape dough into balls. Place on greased baking sheets or greased pan. I used a 9x13" pan.
  7. Let rise until doubled in size.
  8. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake 15-20 minutes or until they are turning a light golden brown on top. Brush with melted butter if desired.
